Paying Tribute to Blanche Blackwell

We would like to pay tribute to the wonderful Blanche Blackwell, who passed away last week at the age of 104, and was one of Coward's closest friends.

We loved the tribute on Radio 4 this weekend, from Chris Salewicz, who describes Blanche as 'tough, vivacious, extremely beautiful and highly intelligent. She was at the centre of a constellation of some of the biggest stars of the 20th Century'. Tune in here (approx. 23 mins in).

Also, we hope you enjoy just a small selection of photographs of Blanche and Coward, which we hold in the archive. With love and affection to you Blanche - As she herself once said 'no one ever really dies - I see the past, present and future existing all at once'.
