This week Andrew Scott took home the award for best actor at the 2019 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for his performance in Noel Coward's Present Laughter. Scott played the starring role of Gary Essendine in the Old Vic's production of Coward's semi-autobiographical play. This latest accolade comes after Scott was awarded Best Actor at the 65th Evening Standard Theatre Awards in November for the same role.
The play was directed by Matthew Warchus, and ran from 17 June - 10 August 2019. National Theatre Live screened a recording of the production in selected cinemas across London and beyond after the play's close.
